The US consulates in Karachi and Lahore have suspended all immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments from March 9 to March 13.

Visa applicants have been instructed to reschedule their appointments, which will be communicated via email.

Meanwhile, consular services at the US Consulates in Karachi and Lahore will remain suspended until further notice.

Regular and emergency services for US citizens will continue uninterrupted, the embassy added.

The suspension follows violent unrest outside the Karachi consulate, which resulted in 11 deaths and over 30 injuries.

A committee, headed by Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Lark, has been formed to investigate the incident.

SSP Amjad Sheikh presented detailed reports and videos of the unrest before a meeting of the committee.

The committee will summon additional officers if needed and is required to submit a full report to the Interior Minister within seven days.
