Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday that several countries are attempting to mediate to end the ongoing war between Iran and the United States, stressing that mediators should engage those responsible for triggering the conflict.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Pezeshkian confirmed that diplomatic efforts were underway by some countries to reduce tensions amid the escalating confrontation.

He said Iran remained committed to achieving lasting peace in the region and supported diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalation.

“Let’s be clear: we are committed to lasting peace in the region, yet we have no hesitation in defending our nation’s dignity & sovereignty,” the Iranian president said.

Pezeshkian added that mediating countries should also address those who had “underestimated the Iranian people and ignited this conflict,” warning that attempts to pressure Iran by assuming weakness would fail.

The war between Iran and the United States, following attacks on Iran involving the US and Israel, has now entered its seventh day.

According to Iranian media, the death toll in Iran from the conflict has reached 1,332.

In the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, at least 20 people were killed after a US-Israeli strike targeted a residential area.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed it destroyed six Iranian ballistic missile launchers overnight and also hit three advanced Iranian air defence systems.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had shot down an Israeli Heron drone in Isfahan.
