Iran’s official IRNA news agency has confirmed that Abdul Rahim Mousavi, chief of staff of the armed forces, and Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed in the US and Israeli air strikes on Saturday.

The announcement comes alongside earlier confirmations that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his security adviser Ali Shamkhani, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander-in-chief Mohammad Pakpour were also killed in the attacks.

IRNA further stated that senior commanders of Iran’s armed forces were killed in the strikes, with their names to be released at a later time.

Israel’s air force claimed that it dropped more than 1,200 munitions on Iran in a 24-hour period as part of a joint operation with the United States.

Among the targeted sites was an elementary girls’ school in Minab, located in the Hormozgan province of southern Iran.

Iranian officials report that at least 148 people were killed in the attack, with dozens more injured.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the strike, saying “dozens of innocent children” were murdered and vowing that the attack “will not go unanswered.”
