Sindh bans unauthorised photography in girls’ colleges
2 min readThe Sindh government has imposed a complete ban on the unauthorised photography of female teachers and students in government-run girls’ colleges.
The decision, announced by the Sindh College Education Department, has been taken in view of the growing misuse of images on social media.
According to an advisory issued by the Director of Colleges Karachi Region, Professor Qazi Arshad Hussain Siddiqui, sharing photographs on Facebook, WhatsApp, or any other digital platform without consent will be treated as a punishable offence.
In a letter sent to principals of all government colleges, the director said the special secretary of the College Education Department had taken strict notice of incidents where photographs of female faculty members and students were taken without permission and circulated online.
The letter stated that such acts are not only a clear violation of laws but also go against social and religious values.
It added that formal complaints regarding the misuse of students’ photographs on social media platforms had been received by the department.
The directive makes it clear that unauthorised photography will be strictly prohibited in all government girls’ colleges.
In case of any violation, those responsible will face departmental action as well as legal proceedings under relevant laws.
Principals have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the advisory within their institutions.
The department has warned that failure to comply with the orders will result in disciplinary action against concerned principals and staff.
Professor Siddiqui said that unauthorised photography in educational institutions would not be tolerated, stressing that protecting the dignity, privacy and safety of female students and staff remains a top priority of the department.
