PIMS submits Imran Khan’s medical report to Adiala Jail authorities
2 min readPakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has submitted the medical report of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan to Adiala Jail authorities, detailing his recent treatment for an eye condition, sources said on Friday.
According to the report, Imran Khan had complained of reduced vision in his right eye. A senior and accredited ophthalmologist from PIMS conducted a comprehensive eye examination at Adiala Jail.
Following the examination, doctors diagnosed him with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion in his right eye and recommended follow-up treatment at the hospital.
Imran Khan was shifted to PIMS between January 31 and February 1 (Saturday and Sunday) night for further medical care. Hospital authorities planned treatment through Anti-VEGF injections administered inside the eye.
The report said the patient was fully briefed about the treatment procedure, and written consent was obtained before the process.
The injection was administered in the operation theatre, and the procedure lasted around 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on X that the opposition leader had written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding Imran Khan’s health. He added that, on the prime minister’s directions, the PIMS executive director sent a detailed report to the Adiala Jail superintendent, which was also shared with Imran Khan’s family.
Earlier, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai had expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health and called for a transparent medical examination in the presence of family members and personal doctors, terming it a basic human rights issue.
Previously, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi heard a petition related to Imran Khan’s medical check-up.
The deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail informed the court that the examination was conducted in accordance with Pakistan Prison Rules and that medical facilities were being provided to both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi under jail regulations.
