World Bank President Ajay Banga arrived in Pakistan on Sunday for a high-level visit, during which he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other key ministers and senior officials.

During his stay, Ajay Banga will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and officials from the energy and economic affairs ministries.

Discussions are also expected to cover economic reforms and the ongoing water dispute with India.

Sources said that Banga will remain in Pakistan until February 4, meeting key officials to review progress on development projects and economic reforms undertaken by the government.

He will also be briefed on the 10-year country partnership framework, under which the World Bank plans to provide $20 billion to Pakistan by 2035.

Ajay Banga visits Hassan Abdal

Meanwhile, after arriving in Pakistan, Banga and his delegation visited Gurdwara Shri Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal to offer prayers amid tight security measures.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora received them.

At the gurdwara, Banga participated in religious rituals and was presented with a religious symbol by the local Sikh community as a mark of respect.
