78 killed in Karachi traffic accidents in January

At least 78 people have lost their lives, and 814 others have been injured in traffic accidents in Karachi during the first month of the year, rescue officials said.

According to rescue sources, the dead include 58 men, nine women, 11 children and one girl.

Among the injured were 644 men, 118 women, 38 children and 14 girls.

In the last 30 days, 21 people were killed in collisions involving heavy vehicles.

Rescue officials said these deaths are part of the overall 78 fatalities reported this year.

The report said heavy vehicles involved in fatal accidents included 10 trailers, five water tankers, four buses, one dumper and one Mazda vehicle.
