Rain and snowfall are set to lash various parts of the country from today (Saturday) until February 3, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The Met Office warned the spell could increase the risk of landslides in hilly areas.

According to the Met Office, rain and snowfall are expected over the next few days in northern Balochistan and the country’s northern regions.

The forecast said that Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to receive rain and snowfall.

Rain is expected in Islamabad and the neighbouring Potohar region, while parts of Punjab, including Murree and the Galiyat, are also likely to see rainfall.

The Met Office cautioned that the risk of landslides may rise in the hilly areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during this period, advising citizens and travellers to take precautionary measures.
