Robber killed in police encounter in Karachi’s Orangi Town
1 min readAn alleged robber was killed in an alleged encounter with the Karachi police on Wednesday in Orangi Town’s Sector 11½, authorities said. The deceased has been identified as Farhan.
According to DIG West Irfan Baloch, the suspect had been involved in an earlier incident in which a police officer, Owais, was injured while resisting a robbery. A special team had been formed to apprehend Farhan.
“When police raided the suspect’s hideout, he opened fire on the officers,” said DIG Baloch, adding that in the ensuing encounter, the robber was killed.
“The police used technical support, CCTV footage, and other evidence to track the suspect.”
The police official added that Farhan’s previous criminal record is also being verified.
The CCTV footage of the earlier attack on the officer had surfaced, which helped authorities identify and locate the suspect.
No police casualties were reported in the encounter.
