Governor Sindh demands judicial probe into Gul Plaza tragedy
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has strongly criticised the Sindh government over the Gul Plaza tragedy and demanded a judicial inquiry to fix responsibility and punish those involved.
Addressing a press conference, Tessori said that even a week after the tragic incident, political point-scoring was continuing, but attempts to shift blame would not be allowed to succeed.
He stressed that those responsible must be identified and brought to justice.
The governor said he wanted to tell Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah that he might not have been informed of the real situation on the ground.
He urged the chief minister to personally ask why the machinery was not functioning properly during the incident.
Questioning the authorities’ actions, Tessori asked why the son of a man who lost his life was subjected to baton charge, while mothers were being forced to beg for justice.
He said it was unacceptable for citizens to pay taxes and also lose their lives due to negligence.
He warned that if anyone tried to politicise the tragedy, he would expose all facts.
Tessori accused the administration of criminal negligence and said he would not allow any cover-up.
The governor also said he would approach Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, adding that Karachi was waiting and that he should see for himself who was responsible for the injustice.
