Punjab Police has rejected allegations of staged police encounters against the Crime Control Department (CCD), calling them baseless and driven by social media rumours, according to a written report submitted to the Lahore High Court.

Filed on the court’s direction, the report claims a marked decline in crime since the CCD was set up seven months ago. It says property-related crimes fell by more than 64 per cent during this period.

According to the data, incidents of robbery and murder dropped by 60 per cent. Robbery cases declined by 69 per cent, while street crime fell by 62 per cent.

The report states that reported robberies fell from 792 cases in 2024 to 324 in 2025. Street crime incidents dropped from over 41,000 to 18,608.

Vehicle snatching cases declined by 64 per cent, car theft by 60 per cent, and motorcycle snatching by 53 per cent. Robbery-cum-murder cases fell from 170 to 96.

Punjab Police said CCD operations targeted criminals without discrimination. Several Category-A proclaimed offenders and head-money suspects were arrested during the operations.

The report also detailed casualties among police ranks. One sub-inspector was martyred, and 96 personnel were injured during CCD operations.

Addressing allegations of custodial torture and deaths, the report said 42 such cases were transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency under the law.

Punjab Police maintained that it has a strong accountability and disciplinary system. Any violation by an officer, it said, leads to a full inquiry and strict action if proven.
