ATC issues arrest warrants for Aleema Khan in Nov 26 protest case
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan after she failed to appear in a case related to the November 26 protest.
The case was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who rejected Aleema Khan’s request for exemption from personal appearance and ordered the issuance of bailable warrants. The court adjourned further proceedings until Thursday.
During the hearing, cross-examination of 10 prosecution witnesses was completed. The prosecution requested that the case be heard on a day-to-day basis, citing the number of witnesses and the nature of the proceedings.
In a related development, the court adjourned without action the hearing on the bail application of Bushra Bibi in the same case. Her interim bail was extended until January 21.
According to court records, Bushra Bibi faces 29 cases registered against her across the Rawalpindi division.
