Police arrest suspect in Karachi mother-and-children killing case
Police in Karachi have arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of a woman and her three children, whose bodies were found in a manhole in the Mai Kolachi area.
According to police, the arrested suspect, identified as Mansoor Hussain, has confessed to the murders during interrogation.
Investigators said the suspect claimed the woman practised amulets and talismans, and that he killed Anila and her children after becoming disturbed by this.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and the suspect’s statement is being examined from all angles.
On Sunday, four bodies were recovered from a manhole on Mai Kolachi Road. The victims were later identified as Anila and her three children — Kishwar Zahra, Hussain Ali and Konain Ali. They were residents of the Kharadar area.
The bodies were identified by Anila’s sister. Family members said Anila’s mobile phone had been switched off since December 30 and that she had been divorced for the past two and a half years.
The family has demanded a transparent and thorough investigation.
SHO Docks Nand Lal said police are examining all aspects of the case and that the possibility of further arrests cannot be ruled out.
Police added that the bodies of the woman and her children have been handed over to the heirs after completion of legal formalities.
