Lahore tops global pollution list as air quality worsens on year-end
On the last day of the year, Lahore continued to struggle with severe air pollution, recording an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 477 and topping the global list of most polluted cities.
Several areas of the provincial capital were engulfed in smog.
Kent reported the highest AQI at 573, followed by Kahna No with 486, Defence at 280, and Allama Iqbal Town at 245.
Askari Ten recorded an AQI of 237, PECO Road 210, Model Town 192, Burki Road 183, Canal Road 162, and Bedian Road 152.
Authorities have warned residents to take precautions, particularly those with respiratory issues, as the hazardous air quality poses significant health risks.
