Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the targeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in an attack by Ukraine, calling it a threat to peace and stability.

In a statement, Sharif said such “heinous attacks” endanger peace and stability, particularly at a time when efforts are being made to pursue peace.

He added that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Russian president, government and people.

The prime minister also said Pakistan rejects all forms of violence that put security and peace at risk.

Russia has accused Ukraine of carrying out an attack on President Putin’s official residence.

According to Russian news agencies, Moscow claimed that Ukraine targeted the residence located in the Novgorod region.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukraine attempted to strike President Putin’s residence.

Russia claimed that between December 28 and 29, Ukraine launched 91 long-range drones at the site.

Ukraine has denied the accusation. President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the claim as false, saying Russia was seeking to undermine peace talks.

He added that Moscow was trying to justify its own attacks on Ukrainian government buildings and called on the United States to respond to what he described as Russian threats.
