The Indian Navy on Friday detained 11 Pakistani fishermen, including two children, said to be under the age of 10, after seizing their boat near the maritime boundary.

The detained fishermen belong to Karachi’s coastal locality of Ibrahim Hyderi.

Most of the detainees are residents of Bogani Mohalla.

According to family members, the group had sailed for the seasonal “gajar keri” catch when they were picked up.

Indian forces accused them of violating maritime limits before taking them into custody.

News of the arrests sparked panic in Ibrahim Hyderi, where families say all the fishermen are related and have been working together.

Relatives report that the children were also on board as part of the extended fishing crew.

The fishermen’s families have appealed to the Ministry of Human Rights and the Pakistan Human Rights Commission for immediate intervention, urging authorities to help secure the safe return of the detainees, especially the minors.
