PTI notifies new 23-member political committee
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reconstituted its political committee, issuing a fresh notification that names 23 senior leaders to the party’s top decision-making forum.
The notification, signed by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, states that the committee will be effective from December 12.
It will set policy guidelines for the party’s parliamentary wings and legislatures, with further appointments and changes to be made as required.
PTI also plans to form specialised subcommittees comprising experienced members.
Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja have been included in the committee.
Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram are also part of the new structure.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi joins the panel, alongside Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
Outgoing NA opposition leader Omar Ayub, former Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz, and Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Moin Riaz Qureshi are also listed.
From the regions, former AJK premier Khalid Khurshid and former Gilgit-Baltistan chief Sardar Qayyum Niazi have been included.
Other prominent names include former NA speaker Asad Qaiser, Chief Whip Aamir Dogar, Senate coordinator Fauzia Arshad, Overseas Chapter Secretary Sajjad Burki, Women’s Wing President Kanwal Shauzab, Minority Wing head Lal Chand Malhi, and Punjab chief organiser Zartaj Gul Hamza.
The committee also features Junaid Akbar, Haleem Adil Sheikh and Dawood Kakar, along with former Punjab opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhacher.
According to the notification, the political committee will serve as PTI’s highest forum for policy formation and major party decisions, and will define the policy line to be followed by all parliamentary bodies.
