Father and son identified as main suspects in Karachi triple murder
Police have identified the head of the household, Iqbal, and his son, Yaseen, as the central suspects in the alleged triple murder of a mother, daughter, and daughter-in-law in a Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 1 flat.
The victims, Samina (52), Maha (22), and Samreen (19), were found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Authorities said the family owed over Rs10 million, and a police complaint had been filed regarding a Rs7.5 million debt.
The suspects lived in a rented house, used one rental vehicle, and had another on bank lease.
Investigators said Yaseen, who worked as a property agent, and his father allegedly poisoned the women by mixing toxic substances into juice.
The suspects reportedly planned to drink the poisoned juice themselves, but Iqbal refrained after seeing his son’s condition.
Maha, Yaseen’s wife, was reportedly poisoned first, and her body was locked in a room.
Authorities said the extreme measure appears linked to attempts to evade creditors.
Iqbal and Yaseen remain in custody as the investigation continues.
Police found a torn letter
Earlier on Tuesday, police recovered a torn letter from the residence’s garbage bin, which has been declared a crucial piece of evidence in the case.
During a search operation, police recovered the fragmented letter, believed to have been discarded intentionally.
Authorities are probing whether the letter was written by the daughter or by someone else on her behalf.
Additionally, police found another letter in the pocket of the house’s head, Iqbal, which he reportedly kept in his possession to indicate contact points in case of his death.
Iqbal told investigators that his wife, daughter, and daughter-in-law died in his presence, while his son, Yaseen, had taken several pills and was nearly dead in front of him.
Investigators revealed that Yaseen had two wives, who were related to each other, and that he faced millions of rupees in debts alongside allegations of fraud in Lyari.
