PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali elected senator unopposed
Former minister faces no opposition from PTI
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali was elected senator unopposed on Monday.
The vacant general seat from Punjab, previously held by the late Senator Irfan Siddiqui, saw no nominations from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Two other PML-N leaders, Rana Ehsan Afzal and Abdul Jabbar, withdrew their nomination papers.
According to Election Commission sources, Abid Sher Ali’s nomination papers have cleared scrutiny, and the official announcement of his unopposed election is expected by this evening.
