29-Year-Old Muhammad Shahzeb Awan Named World’s Youngest University Chancellor by Guinness World Records

For Shahzeb Awan, the world record carries a deeply personal meaning.

Guinness World Records has officially honored 29-year-old Pakistani educator Muhammad Shahzeb Awan as the world’s youngest university chancellor (male), marking an inspiring achievement for Pakistan’s new generation of leaders. Shahzeb currently serves as the Chancellor of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), a federally chartered university established under Act No. VI of 2025.

NIT is reshaping the landscape of higher education in Pakistan through its academic partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), one of the most innovative universities in the United States. This collaboration allows NIT to offer a high-quality learning experience that blends American education standards with local cultural values, regional needs, and modern industry requirements.

The institute positions itself as a “future-focused, student-first” university. Its academic programs are designed to help students become independent thinkers and problem-solvers who can excel in global markets. With a focus on hands-on learning, professional development, and strong industry linkages, NIT aims to reduce the gap between education and employability in Pakistan.

For Shahzeb Awan, the world record carries a deeply personal meaning. He shared that losing his father 11 years ago changed the direction of his life. “Your circumstances don’t define you. Your choices do,” he said. “That loss pushed me to choose a path where I could create opportunities for others and contribute meaningfully to my community.”

He added that this achievement is not just a personal milestone but a message to the country’s young people. “Leadership is not tied to age. It comes from conviction, discipline, and purpose. This is just the beginning.”

Shahzeb expressed hope that NIT will continue to grow by building stronger partnerships with industries, increasing global exposure for students, and ensuring graduates gain the academic and professional skills necessary to succeed anywhere in the world.
