Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that Pakistan will not compromise on its territorial integrity or the safety of its citizens, noting that the regional security environment is changing rapidly.

Addressing participants of the National Security Workshop, he said growing geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism and hybrid warfare tactics were reshaping the security landscape.

Despite complex challenges — including externally supported militancy and information-centric warfare — the armed forces remained fully committed to safeguarding national security, he added.

Field Marshal Munir said intelligence and law-enforcement agencies were also demonstrating strong professionalism and resolve in the national security effort.

Pakistan, he stressed, was an important country and is destined to reach its rightful place in the comity of nations.

He said the professionalism, resolve and commitment of the armed forces in the “Marka-e-Haq” had enhanced the country’s stature globally.

“Our greatest strength is national unity. God willing, we will foil all malicious designs of our enemies,” he remarked.

The army chief reiterated that the Pakistan Army’s foremost priority was the protection of national borders, overall security and the safety of every Pakistani citizen.

“There will be no compromise on territorial integrity, security or the protection of our people,” he said.

Reaffirming full cooperation with federal and provincial governments, he said durable peace, stability and prosperity required coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), participants of National Security Workshop-27 visited the GHQ, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s regional and internal security environment and the current national security outlook.

They were also briefed on national efforts against illegal activities, including anti-smuggling operations, narcotics trafficking and efforts targeting organised criminal networks.

The delegation took part in an interactive session with Field Marshal Munir.

The ISPR added that participants were also informed about progress on improved border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners.

The National Security Workshop, the flagship programme of the National Defence University, brings together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers, and representatives from academic and social sectors.
