Karachi man held for hacking women’s phones, blackmailing victims with stolen data
A man accused of hacking women’s mobile phones and blackmailing them with stolen personal data has been arrested in Karachi, revealing what police describe as “shocking details” during interrogation.
The suspect, identified as Sameer alias PK, was detained by Eidgah Police after several complaints from victims.
Police say Sameer, a seventh-grade dropout and unemployed, bought a hacking link for Rs5,000 from a man in Lahore and used it across various social media platforms to access women’s phones and accounts.
According to investigators, he learned the hacking method through online groups.
Once inside a victim’s account, he obtained personal information, photos and videos and then used the material to blackmail them.
Sameer confessed to coercing at least four women into recording explicit videos, which he saved on his devices.
Police say they recovered hundreds of obscene videos and extensive personal data of women from his mobile phones and laptop.
They also allege the suspect tried to lure some victims into prostitution by offering money.
One woman told police that Sameer sent her photos of her daughter during the blackmail, leaving her in fear and distress.
Her family later devised a plan, calling him to Ranchore Line on November 17 and handing him over to police after catching him on the spot.
Officers said the suspect even threatened the woman and her family with “serious consequences.”
A case has been registered under the Telegraph Act.
Given the severity of the crime, the DIG South has formed a special investigation team.
Police have also written to the FIA Cybercrime Wing, requesting digital forensics, data recovery and the nomination of an officer to assist victims and examine the evidence.
