Dalai Lama earns first Grammy nomination for spoken-word album
Spiritual leader Dalai Lama has received his first Grammy nomination for his spoken-word album, Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The album features collaborations with Amjad Ali Khan, Grammy-winning producer Kabir Sehgal, and sarod virtuosos Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash.
It is nominated in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
An official from the Dalai Lama’s office said the Indian musicians had worked with him during his 80th birthday in New Delhi.
The music reflects his messages on compassion, peace, humanity, and environmental awareness.
Amjad Ali Khan posted on social media: “As a family, we congratulate His Holiness. This album is close to our hearts.”
