Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) on Monday, marking the launch of the country’s first force of its kind.

In a ceremony at Expo Centre in Lahore, the chief minister inspected enforcement vehicles, motorcycles, equipment, and the model layout of PERA Stations.

The ceremony featured an extensive presentation of the authority’s resources and capabilities.

She also observed the complaint registration process in real time and toured the various rooms within the station, including monitoring and investigation units, detention areas, and administrative offices.

Director General of PERA, Captain (Retired) Farrukh Atique, addressed the audience with a detailed explanation of the authority’s purpose.

He highlighted the Chief Minister’s crucial role in making the initiative a reality and emphasized PERA’s long-term mandate to tackle profiteering, hoarding, and illegal land occupation.

He explained that after its initial rollout in Lahore, PERA would expand operations to every district, city, and tehsil in Punjab.

The new body is set to begin operations in the Lahore division next week, with full-scale implementation expected across Punjab by the end of the year.
