PPP, JUI-F agree to contest Senate elections from a joint platform

Parties to reach out to other opposition groups to form a broader alliance

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have agreed to contest the upcoming Senate elections from a unified platform, sources confirmed on Monday.

According to party insiders, delegations from both parties met in Islamabad and reached consensus on a joint electoral strategy.

The two parties have also decided to initiate contacts with other opposition groups to build a broader political alliance for the Senate polls.

The move signals a shift towards greater coordination among opposition forces, amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the upper house elections.

The agreement follows recent remarks by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who said that while his party maintains political differences with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), it prefers to manage disagreements with moderation rather than hostility.

The PPP and JUI-F had reportedly made initial contact a day earlier, laying the groundwork for Monday’s formal meeting.
