Pakistani television actress Ayesha Khan was found dead in her apartment located in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, police confirmed on Friday.

According to initial reports, her body was discovered about a week after her death. Authorities noted that Ayesha had been living alone at the time.

The incident came to light when neighbors noticed a foul odor coming from her flat and informed her family, who then alerted the police.

Officers responded promptly and transported her body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal procedures.

Following the initial examination, the body was shifted to the Edhi Foundation mortuary in Sohrab Goth. Police stated that a post-mortem will be conducted based on the wishes of the family.

Details regarding her funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.

Ayesha Khan was a prominent figure in Pakistan’s television industry, known for her performances in classic PTV dramas such as Afshan, Uroosa, Aanch, Bandhan, and Shaam Se Pehle. Born in 1948, she was the elder sister of renowned actress Khalida Riasat.

One of her most memorable roles was in Afshan, where she portrayed a grieving woman raising her child and her niece after her husband and brother fled the country during the Partition for their safety.
