Karachi’s Millennium Mall fire: Firefighters extinguishes massive blaze
Firefighters have successfully extinguished a blaze that destroyed over 500 shops after several hours of intense efforts, according to a rescue official.
A fire broke out at a shopping mall in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi, on Wednesday, severely damaging the control room and corporate offices located on the third floor.
According to rescue officials, the fire originated in the mall’s control room and quickly spread, reaching the roof within minutes.
Additionally, no casualties have been reported as a result of the fire.
The fire department immediately dispatched 12 fire tenders and two snorkel units to the site.
Also, the firefighting teams undertook swift and coordinated efforts to suppress the blaze and successfully brought it under control, thereby averting its spread to other parts of the building.
Officials revealed that the mall’s firefighting system was found to be faulty and non-operational, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly and inflict significant damage, especially to the third-floor offices.
