Pakistan, US advance talks on reciprocal tariffs in virtual meeting

Both countries reaffirm their commitment to continue constructive engagement

Pakistan’s Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a virtual meeting with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to review and advance ongoing negotiations on reciprocal tariffs, the Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday.

According to the official press release, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue constructive engagement in order to finalize a trade deal at the earliest opportunity.

The talks focused on deepening economic cooperation through enhanced trade and investment, with the aim of forging mutually beneficial ties. Officials from both nations agreed to hold further technical-level discussions in the coming days, following a jointly coordinated roadmap.

Both Pakistan and the United States expressed optimism about the progress made and voiced confidence in achieving a successful conclusion to the negotiations soon.
