Babusar Top reopens for traffic after six-month closure
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has fully reopened the Kaghan Highway up to Babusar Top for all types of traffic after a closure lasting six months.
Heavy snowfall and glaciers had blocked the road beyond Naran at multiple points, causing significant challenges for locals and tourists alike.
NHA officials reported that crews cleared over 21 glaciers between Naran and Babusar Top in phases.
This reopening reduces travel time for tourists from Babusar Top to Gilgit by approximately seven hours, eliminating the need to use the longer Karakoram Highway route.
Following the announcement, long lines of vehicles carrying locals and tourists formed as they began traveling toward Babusar Top to enjoy the area’s natural beauty.
Residents and visitors praised the NHA’s efforts, calling the reopening a welcome development that will help boost tourism and strengthen the region’s economy.
