Pakistan military responds to claims of drone attack in North Wazirstan
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has strongly rejected “unfounded and misleading allegations” circulating in certain quarters that falsely implicate Pakistan’s security forces in the tragic incident of May 19, 2025, in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan. The attack, which resulted in civilian casualties, has drawn widespread attention and condemnation.
In its official statement issued on Wednesday, the military’s media wing termed the accusations “entirely baseless” and stated that they are “part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the security forces’ steadfast efforts in the ongoing counterterrorism operations.”
The ISPR confirmed that following the incident, a “comprehensive investigation was promptly initiated.” It added that “initial findings have established that this heinous act has been orchestrated and executed by Indian sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij.”
According to the statement, such elements, described as “acting at the behest of their Indian Masters”, have continued to exploit civilian areas and vulnerable populations to carry out “reprehensible acts of terrorism.” The ISPR noted that these tactics are “aimed to unsuccessfully sow discord between the local population and the security forces, who together remain resolute to uproot the menace of terrorism.”

The military reiterated its firm resolve to pursue the perpetrators of the attack, stating: “The security forces reaffirm their commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of this inhuman act are brought to justice.”
The ISPR emphasised the collective determination of both the armed forces and the people of Pakistan to defeat terrorism and prevent hostile elements from undermining national unity and stability.
The military did not specify the nature of terrorism, however, social media reports suggested that militants used to quadcopter to launch, what is being called, a drone attack in the region.
