India arrests 6 Sikhs for espionage as Kartarpur corridor remain closed
Under the Modi administration, Sikhs and Muslims are encountering significant difficulties especially since India’s defeat in the May 7-10 conflict with Pakistan.
The Kartarpur Corridor remains shut, and the government’s crackdown on Sikhs has intensified. Efforts to portray Sikhs as agents of Pakistan continue.
Recently, six Sikhs were arrested on charges of espionage, and many others are facing similar unfounded allegations. In Gurdaspur, Uttar Pradesh, and Amritsar, ordinary citizens are being detained without evidence.
Two individuals in Gurdaspur were arrested for allegedly providing information to the ISI, while two others in Amritsar were taken into custody on false claims of sharing images of military installations.

Additionally, an employee from the Kanpur Ordnance Factory was apprehended for purportedly communicating with a Pakistani spy on social media.
The developments follow the arrest of Indian vlogger Jyoti Malhotra for presenting a positive portrayal of Pakistan.
Previously , India threatened religious freedom and interfaith harmony by banning Sikh pilgrims from entering Pakistan on the anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. This decision leaves around 500 Sikh pilgrims in limbo, as they had planned to visit Pakistan on May 14.
