WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps owned by Meta, is continuously working on new updates to enhance user experience. A major and welcome change is now expected for WhatsApp Web users, aimed at making daily communication more convenient.

According to recent reports, WhatsApp is preparing to introduce voice and video calling features on its web version. Currently, this feature is limited to mobile apps and desktop applications, forcing web users to rely on mobile phones for calls.

Tech-focused platform WABetaInfo reports that the new feature may be included in the latest version of WhatsApp Web and is currently under development. While an official release date has not been announced, it is expected to roll out to users soon.

With this update, users will be able to make individual and group voice and video calls directly through browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Edge. This means that both Windows and macos users will no longer need a separate WhatsApp desktop application.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp first introduced its desktop calling feature in 2021, but it was available to a limited number of users. The upcoming update is expected to be a significant improvement, especially for those who use WhatsApp through their browsers for day-to-day work communication.
