Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s documentary on Diane von Fürstenberg receives Emmy nomination
Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s documentary Diane von Fürstenberg: Woman in Charge has been nominated for an Emmy Award.
The documentary was released in June 2024 on Hulu. It tells the story of Diane von Fürstenberg, a famous fashion designer known for creating the iconic women’s wrap dress.
The film is nominated in the category of Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary.
She wrote that “This was truly a labour of love — every single person involved, from the crew to our incredible executive team, poured their heart into telling the story of a woman who has always led with strength, vision, and purpose.”
She expressed her gratefulness and described her team as “phenomenal.”
Earlier this year, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy received the Cinema for Peace Dove Award for Women’s Empowerment at the Cinema for Peace Gala 2025 for her work on the film.
She co-directed the documentary with Trish Dalton.
The film explores the life and career of Diane von Fürstenberg, who built a multi-million-dollar fashion empire in a male-dominated industry. It features archival footage and personal interviews, as reported by Variety.
