Saudia Group signs agreement with Airbus for wide-body aircraft acquisition
Saudia Group has entered into an agreement with Airbus to acquire wide-body aircraft for its subsidiary, flyadeal, as part of its strategy to enhance operational capabilities.
This agreement aims to modernize the fleet and expand operational reach, promising positive impacts for Pakistan in terms of regional connectivity, tourism, and economic development.
The A330neo models, known for their superior performance, long range, and versatility, align with Saudia Group’s objective to broaden its network and introduce new destinations.
Deliveries of the aircraft are set to commence in 2027, addressing the increasing demand for air travel between Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries, including Pakistan.
This agreement positions Pakistan as a key partner in regional trade, tourism, and travel, enhancing flight connectivity and fostering potential collaboration in the aviation and tourism sectors between the two nations.
The expansion of Saudia Group is in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to connect 250 destinations and attract millions of tourists, potentially boosting tourist traffic between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The signing ceremony took place at the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France, with Saudia Group’s Director General, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar, and Airbus’s CEO of Commercial Aircraft Business, Christian Scherer, in attendance.

“This deal marks a pivotal milestone in our ambitious strategy to modernize and expand our fleet,” stated H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Al-Omar. “It builds on last year’s historic deal with Airbus for 105 aircraft and aligns with our national strategies under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to facilitate travel for over 330 million travelers and 150 million tourists by 2030.”
Currently, Saudia Group operates 194 aircraft for commercial, cargo, and logistics purposes.
The addition of 191 new aircraft will further enhance these services and support Saudi Arabia’s economic vision, providing new opportunities for increased air connectivity with Pakistan.
