JUIF Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and JI Chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman have announced the formation of a joint platform named Ittehad-e-Ummat, with a major rally scheduled for April 27 at Minar-e-Pakistan to express solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Addressing a joint press conference in Lahore, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that the current situation in Palestine demands a united response from the Muslim Ummah.

They announced a mass public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan under the banner of the newly formed Majlis Ittehad-e-Ummat.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated if any minor Zionist lobby existed in Pakistan it had no real influence. The issue of Palestine is one that wounds the entire Muslim world, he said.

The JUI-F leader emphasized that all religious parties will participate in the Lahore rally. He also highlighted the need for a nationwide awareness campaign on the Palestinian crisis. “We are launching this movement to awaken the people of Pakistan and the Ummah at large,” he said.

Fazl criticised Muslim rulers for what he called their “negligence and silence” on the matter, stating that the sacred concept of jihad includes all forms of resistance, be it geographical, financial, or political.

Fazlur Rehman also reiterated JUI-F’s clear stance on provincial autonomy, saying each province’s resources belong to its people. He mentioned that decisions should be made through national consensus and cited the example of the Kala Bagh Dam being turned controversial due to such neglect.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman added that while both parties have their own positions on certain issues, including the rejection of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, they will coordinate through their respective platforms and continue their political struggles independently.

Both leaders agreed that there must be a clear and unified stance across the Islamic world on the Palestinian issue. They expressed hope that the Ittehad-e-Ummat platform would serve as a powerful voice for justice and unity.
