Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has officially reduced the prices of naan and chapati following a recent cut in flour rates. A notification has been issued, fixing the price of a 100-gram chapati at Rs10 and a 120-gram naan at Rs15.

As per the new order, tandoor owners are required to prominently display the official rate list. Any violations will face strict action. Additionally, the price of a 150-gram naan has been capped at Rs17, while a 180-gram naan must not exceed Rs22.

Commissioner Naqvi warned that exceeding the official prices is a punishable offence. A control room has been set up to monitor the enforcement of naan and chapati rates, and citizens have been urged to report violations.

This development follows yesterday’s notification regarding a significant cut in flour prices — the first in one and a half months. According to the revised rates, Grade-2 flour is now priced at Rs83 per kg wholesale and Rs87 per kg retail. Fine flour has been fixed at Rs88 wholesale and Rs92 retail, while chakki flour is set at Rs100 per kg.

Despite the official rates, flour is still being sold in markets at higher prices — fine flour between Rs90 and Rs100 per kg, and chakki flour ranging from Rs110 to Rs115 per kg.
