Punjab Governor bans Israeli products at Governor’s house amid nationwide boycott campaign
Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haidar Khan, has officially prohibited the use of Israeli brands, products, and foreign beverages within the Governor’s House.
This move comes as various political and religious parties across Pakistan have announced a campaign to boycott Israeli products in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
During a meeting at the Governor’s House on Sunday, attended by former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Punjab Assembly Parliamentary Leader Haider Ali Gilani, and senior leader Chaudhry Manzoor among other party officials, Governor Haidar reaffirmed, “As long as I am in office, no Israeli items will be permitted in the Governor’s House.”
Addressing the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Palestine, he lamented, “Witnessing the oppression of innocent Muslims in Gaza and Palestine breaks our hearts.
The international community must take prompt and effective action against these atrocities.“
The Governor also urged the public to boycott any products that financially benefit Israel or other ‘oppressive forces,’ conveying a collective message that the Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with the oppressed.
In addition, the Governor expressed his condolences to the families of Pakistanis recently killed in a terrorist act in Iran, pledging full support to them. He called on the Iranian government to quickly apprehend those responsible for the attack and impose severe penalties to ensure justice and prevent future tragedies.
Just a day earlier, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, had addressed the “Gaza Solidarity March” in Karachi, emphasizing the need to boycott Israeli products.
Furthermore, on April 10, a national conference organized by the Pakistan Unity Council in Islamabad discussed “Palestine and the Responsibilities of the Muslim Ummah.”
During the gathering, attendees demanded a cessation of relations with countries that maintain diplomatic and trade ties with Israel until an unconditional ceasefire is achieved.
