SpaceX is now providing free Starlink dishes in select markets, including Italy and Australia, for customers who commit to a one-year service contract. The standard Starlink dish, which was previously priced at 349 Euros, will be offered at no cost in Italy as part of this promotional initiative.

In Australia, customers can take advantage of the same offer, with the stipulation that they will only need to pay for the dish if they cancel their service or fail to meet payment obligations.

This move is part of SpaceX’s broader strategy to enhance Starlink’s presence, which already serves over 5million users across more than 120 markets, with plans to launch in India soon.

However, Starlink faces challenges in attracting new customers, in part due to CEO Elon Musk’s controversial public persona.

The effectiveness of this promotional offer in drawing users remains uncertain, especially as SpaceX has temporarily stopped accepting new sign-ups for its residential plan in several US cities due to limited network capacity.

In related news, Pakistan is set to enter the satellite internet arena as Starlink has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to commence operations in the country. Starlink has met all the requirements set by the regulatory board, with the NOC issued by the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board after receiving clearance from the Interior Ministry.

Concerns raised over 5G auction challenges in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is expected to grant a license to Starlink within the coming two weeks. Starlink has submitted its technical and business plans to the PTA and has also registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as well as the Pakistan Software Export Board.

The company has successfully completed three stages of the registration process, with the final step pending the PTA’s license issuance. Once granted, this license will enable Starlink to launch its services in Pakistan, delivering high-speed internet connectivity to remote and underserved regions without disrupting existing networks.
