Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has expressed confidence that Pakistan is ready to emerge as a key player in the global mineral economy.

Speaking at the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025 in Islamabad, he welcomed international investors and assured them of full security and support from the Pakistan Army.

“We welcome international institutions and partners. The Pakistan Army will ensure the protection of our partners’ interests,” General Munir said during his address. He acknowledged the critical contributions of Baloch tribal elders, stating they played a significant role in promoting mining activities in the region.

Highlighting the immense potential of Pakistan’s mineral wealth, the Army Chief stressed the need for skilled manpower, including engineers, geologists, and mining experts. He shared that 27 Pakistani students from Balochistan are currently receiving training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina as part of efforts to build capacity in the sector.

“Our goal is to develop a skilled workforce and human resource base for the mining sector. We are even sending students abroad for advanced training,” he noted.

General Munir emphasized that economic security has now become an essential component of national security, and mineral development is central to that vision. He urged international partners to bring their expertise to Pakistan, explore investment opportunities, and join in the sustainable development of the country’s vast resources.

“You can trust Pakistan as a reliable partner. It is our collective national aspiration to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of global investors,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to providing security for all stakeholders involved in mining and related industries. He also underscored the importance of developing both upstream and downstream mineral industries, encouraging investment in refining and value addition to diversify markets.

Concluding his address, General Munir pointed out that beneath the feet of the Pakistani people lie vast mineral reserves and that a transparent mineral policy is in place. “There is no room for despair or inaction—move forward and strive for your country and for yourself,” he urged.

The forum marks a significant step toward positioning Pakistan as a global hub for mineral investment, with a strong focus on regional development, sustainability, and prosperity.
