Karachi scorches at 39°C with real feel hitting 40°C amid suspended sea breeze
Karachi sweltered on Sunday as the temperature climbed to 39°C, with the real feel reaching 40°C, amid suspended sea breeze and blazing sunlight, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The day unfolded with clear skies and strong sunshine, making outdoor conditions increasingly uncomfortable. Earlier forecasts had warned of hot and dry conditions, and the lack of sea breeze allowed heat and dry winds to dominate Karachi’s weather.
By afternoon, the temperature had surged to 39°C, with humidity around 29%, intensifying the heat stress felt across the city. The PMD has stated that the sea breeze may return during the evening, potentially offering some relief.
Safety advisory issued for public
In response to the heatwave, the Met Department has issued a public advisory, urging residents to take necessary precautions:
-
Drink plenty of fluids such as water and lemonade
-
Wear light, cotton, and loose-fitting clothes
-
Cover your head with a cap or umbrella when stepping out
Authorities have strongly advised citizens to remain indoors during peak hours and stay well-hydrated to minimize the risk of heatstroke and other heat-related health issues.
