Massive terror plot foiled in Quetta; CTD recovers deadly weapons stash
A major terrorist plot was foiled in Quetta after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a successful intelligence-based operation near Radio Pakistan Tower on Sariab Road on Saturday.
Acting on a credible tip-off, CTD officials uncovered a cache of explosives and weapons, preventing what could have been a devastating attack on critical infrastructure.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following confirmed intelligence suggesting plans of sabotage in the area. A swift and coordinated raid was carried out with the support of the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU). The area was secured, and a detailed search led to the discovery of a 20-kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) equipped with a remote-control detonation system.
In addition to the IED, security personnel recovered 50 kilograms of high-grade explosive material buried underground. The CTD also seized five hand grenades, three 9mm pistols with live rounds, detonators, and other triggering apparatus from the site.

Fortunately, the operation was executed without incident. No suspects were present at the location, and no arrests have been made so far. However, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the CTD Quetta Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Forensic analysis of the recovered items is currently underway, and intelligence-based follow-up operations are in progress to trace those responsible for the foiled attack.
The CTD has reaffirmed its commitment to thwarting any attempts to destabilize the region and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Officials recovered 20Kg remote control IED, 50Kg of other explosive materials, five hand grenades and three 9mm pistols with detonators, wiring and remote triggering equipments.
