Pakistan inaugurates first fast EV charging station
Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari inaugurated Pakistan’s first fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Islamabad, emphasising that EVs represent the country’s future and reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting green energy.
Speaking at the launch, Leghari announced a significant reduction in EV charging rates, bringing them down from Rs71 to Rs39 per unit, with further reductions planned.
He urged the private sector to play its role in national development, stressing that the energy sector is moving towards a cleaner and greener future.
During a media briefing, Leghari assured consumers that electricity prices would decrease in the coming days, stating that his claims would soon be proven true.

Taking a swipe at the previous government, he said, “We stand by our word, unlike the past rulers.”
He further added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would soon share positive news with the nation and dismissed reports of no reductions in electricity prices as baseless.
