Pakistan Day is being celebrated nationwide with patriotic enthusiasm, starting with gun salutes and special prayers for the country’s progress and prosperity.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, as the air echoed with slogans of “Allahu Akbar” and “Pakistan Zindabad” by Pakistan Army personnel. Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country for national unity, security, and development.

In Lahore, a guard-changing ceremony was held at the Mazar-e-Iqbal to honor the Poet of the East, Allama Iqbal. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent took over the guard duties from the Rangers in a dignified ceremony attended by civil and military officials.

The chief guest, Air Vice Marshal Akhtar Imran Sadozai, inspected the parade, received a salute from the smartly turned-out PAF and Rangers personnel, laid a floral wreath at Mazar-e-Iqbal, and offered Fateha. He also penned his sentiments in the guest book at the mausoleum.

Parade moved to President House

A special parade marking Pakistan Day will be held at the premises of Aiwan-e-Sadr, where President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest. The parade has been moved to the President House from its traditional venue of parade ground in view of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The contingents of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force will participate and present a salute. Fighter jets from the Pakistan Air Force will also perform a fly-past during the event. Foreign diplomats and other dignitaries have been invited to attend the ceremony.

Laser light show

In Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park, a spectacular laser light show was organized to mark Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd-e-Wafa (Renewal of Commitment Day). The musical laser show displayed various national monuments, captivating the audience.
