Punjab Home Department announces security measures for Youm-e-Ali

The Punjab Home Department has announced comprehensive security measures for the Youm-e-Ali on Saturday, March 22.

In a statement, the Punjab Home Department stated that special security protocols should be implemented, including the deployment of additional personnel at all places of worship and educational institutions.

The statement issued stated as follows:

  • It was also said that there should be security for mourning processions and public events in mosques, while urging speakers to avoid any provocative or objectionable remarks against any sect.

  • A ban on the possession and display of weapons will be enforced across the province.

  • The directives also stated that strict action will be taken against violations of the Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Act, 2015.

  • Officials will closely monitor for any disruptive elements to maintain religious harmony, and aerial surveillance of major processions will be conducted using drones.

  • Security measures will also be in place to protect key transmission lines and gas pipelines along procession routes.

The Home Department has mandated that security measures be implemented at all entry and exit points in cities throughout the province.

Special arrangements will be made for the protection of prominent religious and political leaders.

Rescue 1122, Civil Defense, and the Health Department will remain on high alert, with all law enforcement and intelligence agencies maintaining close communication.

All Deputy Commissioners, Office of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, and District Police Offices have been instructed to ensure the execution of the security plan, with security personnel required to remain on duty until all processions and gatherings have dispersed.

The department reiterated the importance of taking necessary precautions to maintain law and order during this significant occasion.
