The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully thwarted a major terror plot, arresting two highly dangerous terrorists linked to the attack on I-9 police station.

The operation was carried out near Mughal Market, Rawalpindi, preventing a potential large-scale attack in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the arrested militants, identified as Hamza and Roman, were affiliated with “Fitna al-Khawarij” and were planning attacks on sensitive locations in the twin cities. The operation was intelligence-based, leading to their swift capture.

The terrorists were reportedly in contact with a key commander of Khawarij in Afghanistan and had already conducted reconnaissance of their intended targets.

During the arrest, security forces seized grenades, large quantities of explosives, detonators, safety fuses, wires, and other sabotage materials.
