Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has released a white paper against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s government, alleging that the current administration has rebranded PTI’s projects as its own.

The white paper was unveiled at a ceremony held in a private hotel in Lahore.

Key PTI figures, including Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Punjab Assembly Parliamentary Leader Imtiaz Warraich, Deputy Opposition Leader Moeen Qureshi, Chief Whip Rana Shehbaz, PTI Punjab Chief Organiser Aliya Hamza Malik, and PTI Punjab President Imtiaz Sheikh, attended the event.

Other notable participants included Punjab Assembly members Farrukh Javed Moon, Mian Haroon Akbar, Deputy Opposition Leader Ejaz Shafi, senior journalist Mujibur Rehman Shami, and PTI’s national and provincial assembly members.

Addressing the event, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bachar stated that this was the first time a white paper had been issued against the Punjab government.

He claimed that PTI’s “Kissan Card” initiative was one of the most successful projects, but the PML-N government took credit for it.

He also accused the government of unnecessarily importing wheat despite PTI leaving behind a surplus stock of 2.2 million tons, resulting in a 30% decrease in wheat cultivation.

Bachar further alleged that Maryam Nawaz falsely claimed credit for launching Journalist Colony Phase 2, which PTI had already approved.

He also criticised the Punjab Defamation Act, arguing that it was an attempt to curb free speech.

Additionally, he dismissed the PML-N’s claim of assisting press clubs, stating that PTI had already provided substantial grants at district and tehsil levels, increasing Lahore Press Club’s funding from Rs5 million to Rs20 million.

Challenging the Punjab chief minister to a debate, Bachar said, “Maryam Nawaz should come and debate me on these issues.”

PTI vows to resist authoritarianism

Speaking at the event, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja emphasised that politics should be about meaningful discourse rather than mere noise. He praised the white paper as a valuable effort and warned against the country slipping into authoritarianism instead of remaining an Islamic welfare state. “We will counter fascism with patience, resilience, and protests on the streets,” he said, adding that PTI would face the upcoming challenges with determination, wisdom, and strategy.
