Andrew Brownlee makes T20 international debut for Falkland Islands at age 62
A 62-year-old cricketer from the Falkland Islands, Andrew Brownlee, made his T20 International debut.
Brownlee’s achievement has secured his place in cricket history as the oldest male player to participate in an international cricket match.
Reports showed that on March 10, 2025, during their tour of Costa Rica, the Falkland Islands became the 106th team to play international cricket.
The entire playing XI from the Falkland Islands was over the age of 31, with most players being above 40.
Moreover, three players were over 56, although none were as senior as Brownlee.
During the tour, Brownlee participated in two additional T20I matches against Costa Rica on March 11 and 12. Batting at number ten in all three games, he scored one, two, and three runs, respectively. In his second match, he also bowled one over of medium pace.
Before Brownlee, the record for the oldest male cricketer to debut in international cricket was held by Turkey’s Osman Gokar, who made his debut at 59 against Romania in 2019.
