Faisal Karim Kundi rejects imposition of governor’s rule in KP
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has dismissed the possibility of the governor’s rule in the province, emphasising that there is no need for a second National Action Plan (NAP).
“Forget NAP 2; first, ensure complete implementation of the original plan. I don’t think a major military operation is on the horizon — what we need is national unity,” he stated.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Kundi revealed that the National Security Council (NSC) meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, where various issues, including the Torkham border situation, will be discussed.
He expressed hope that the ongoing Afghanistan-related concerns would be resolved.
Highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, Kundi stressed that rather than the governor’s rule, national solidarity is required.

He also noted that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has urged the federal government to fulfil its commitments.
Kundi further mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has responded positively to PPP’s demands, assuring that they will be considered.
Referring to his recent meetings with Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pervez Khattak, Kundi said both leaders were urged to play their role in restoring peace in the province. He added that they assured their cooperation in improving the security situation.
Addressing cross-border concerns, Kundi stated that terrorism in Pakistan has links to Afghanistan.
“Whenever foreign nationals are involved in acts of terrorism, strict action is taken globally. We want peace in Pakistan and demand that the Afghan government prevent its soil from being used against us,” he asserted.
Expressing concern over the closure of the Torkham border, Kundi reiterated that most terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traced back to Afghanistan. He also pointed out that during the Army Chief’s recent visit to Peshawar, he ruled out the possibility of a large-scale military operation.
Regarding political alliances, Kundi said discussions on power-sharing with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have taken place, particularly concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “While Punjab has different dynamics that need further discussion, PML-N must adhere to the agreed power-sharing formula,” he said.
Reiterating his stance on counterterrorism measures, Kundi questioned the need for a second National Action Plan when the first one hadn’t been fully implemented.
“Before making a new plan, ensure that NAP 1 is enforced in its entirety,” he concluded.
