Actress and model Nadia Hussain, after appearing before the FIA Cyber Crime Circle, spoke to the media, revealing that fraudsters had attempted to extort money from her.

She urged authorities to apprehend the culprits and ensure strict punishment.

“These fraudsters prey on citizens, especially those in need of help,” Hussain stated.

She explained that the scammers contacted her exclusively via WhatsApp, repeatedly asking her to communicate through WhatsApp calls.

Clarification on FIA director’s remarks

Hussain also addressed the controversy surrounding her previous statements, stating, “If my post or statement appeared to insult the FIA director, that was never my intention. My goal was solely to highlight the scam.”

She further emphasised, “I do not want these fraudsters to continue their operations so easily.”

She also disclosed that the FIA Cyber Crime Department has not yet completed a forensic analysis of her phone, which remains in the agency’s custody.

“I have no issue with them holding my phone,” she remarked, adding that collaborating with authorities to create public awareness videos about online scams would be beneficial. She urged citizens to immediately report scam calls to the FIA.

Earlier, Hussain arrived at the FIA Cyber Crime Circle office accompanied by her lawyer.

The actress was summoned by the FIA today, following an earlier incident on March 14, when FIA officials seized her mobile phone as part of an ongoing investigation.

FIA authorities revealed that a fraudster used the WhatsApp display picture of a senior FIA officer to pose as an official and attempt to extort money from Hussain. The agency hopes to trace the scammer using data from her phone.

However, FIA also confirmed that an inquiry against Nadia Hussain is ongoing. Officials alleged that instead of formally filing a complaint, she made baseless accusations against the FIA on social media.

Bank fraud investigation

Meanwhile, a multi-million-rupee bank fraud case was heard at Karachi’s City Court. Faisal Mahmood, a co-accused and the husband of Nadia Hussain appeared before the court.

The court extended his interim bail until March 24 and directed the investigating officer to submit a report in the next hearing.

Faisal Mahmood’s lawyer denied any involvement in the case, stating that he served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2016 to 2019 and had no connection to any wrongdoing.

“This is a white-collar crime, and the investigation will reveal the truth,” argued Barrister Asad Ashfaq.

The case was registered following a complaint from the Bank Securities Head.
