Rumours circulating on social media about the discontinuation of Suzuki Alto and a motorway ban imposed by the National Highway Authority (NHA) have been proven false.

Speculation began when reports emerged that Pak Suzuki Motor Company had halted the production of its popular Alto model.

Adding to the confusion, another rumour claimed that the NHA had banned Alto from travelling on highways due to safety concerns.

These rumours gained traction after a tragic accident in which an Alto was crushed by a heavy truck, leaving the vehicle severely damaged.

Some social media users falsely claimed that authorities had restricted Alto’s movement on motorways due to safety risks.

However, a PakWheels report has confirmed that Suzuki Alto’s production has not been halted, dismissing the claim as false.

Similarly, a spokesperson for the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) clarified in an interview that no such restriction has been imposed.

Company officials further explained that while the Alto lineup remains in production, Suzuki may phase out the VXR variant due to its lack of essential safety features such as airbags and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Despite this, consumers will still be able to purchase upgraded Alto variants, which come equipped with dual airbags, ABS, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Notably, Pak Suzuki had previously announced on March 11 that it was permanently suspending bookings for all variants of the Wagon R hatchback.
